Aerial Work Platform Operator Training (Boom Lift or Scissor Lift)

Course Overview:

This training program is designed to provide elevated work platform operators with a solid foundation in health and safety standards, preventative maintenance and proper procedures for safe operation. The course consists of classroom theory with a written component and practical, hands-on experience. Course content is delivered through a PowerPoint presentation and interactive discussion and reinforced through workbooks and supplementary handouts. Practical training is conducted on boom type equipment unless otherwise requested.

The Course Curriculum Covers:

  • Safety regulations & standards,
  • Aerial platform fundamentals,
  • Hazard identification,
  • Manual & powered vertical aerial platforms,
  • Machine stability & characteristics,
  • Preventative maintenance & procedures (pre-operational inspections),
  • Job safety analysis,
  • Machine orientation & safe operation:
    • Proper start up & shut down protocol,
    • Steering & controls,
    • Operating envelope & range of motion,
    • Emergency controls,
    • Safe dismounting.
