Flush Truck/Vactor Operations

Course content includes:

  • WorkSafe BC regulations pertaining to mobile equipment,
  • Motor Vehicle Act,
  • National Safety Code,
  • WorkSafe BC Regulations,
  • Basics of air brakes,
  • Pre-trip inspection of truck,
  • Pre-trip inspection of the vactor-flushtruck,
  • Vactor operations,
  • Jet rodder operations,
  • Root cutting,
  • Hydro-digging,
  • Dumping the hopper,
  • Seat belt use,
  • Starting the auxiliary engine,
  • Filling with water and where it is permitted,
  • Use of a fire hydrant,
  • Setting up to flush pipes,
  • Setting up for Vactor operations,
  • Proper lights to use when sweeping,
  • Proper cleaning of the flushtruck,
  • Parking requirements,
  • Post-trip inspection.

Practical training includes:

  • Basics of air brakes,

At the conclusion of the theory segment of the course, operators will be required to complete a written quiz. At the conclusion of the practical training segment of the course, operators will be assessed for competency.  The instructor will discuss the final assessment with each operator.
