The City of Langley, a community of 27,000 people positioned in a rapidly growing area, is widely known as an award-winning city. The City of Langley has an exceptional opportunity for a temporary full-time (to return of incumbent) exempt position available for a Human Resources and Safety Officer.
Reporting to the Manager of Human Resources, the Human Resources and Safety Officer will have responsibility for coordinating, supervising and acting as a resource for all health and safety initiatives for the City. As well, you will engage in a variety of human resources functions, including recruitment, training and development, policy development and labour relations. This position is filled with potential for developing processes and working on strategic human resources projects within health and safety as well as all other aspects of human resources.
You have proven and effective interpersonal and customer services skills coupled with a positive “can do” attitude. Initiative and the ability to effectively juggle priorities will be the key to success in this diverse role. You have at least 3 years’ experience in Health and Safety role, preferably in a municipal setting. You have grade 12 supplemented by Occupational Health and Safety training courses and/or preferably a diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or Human Resources Management. A class 5 full-privilege driver’s license for B. C is required. A CPHR designation is an asset.
Hours of work are Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 4:30pm. The City offers a competitive salary and 6% in lieu of benefits until 6 months into the term, when benefits will be become included.
