Single Deck Mower (Rotary and Reel)

Course content covers the following:

Theory:

  • Worksafe BC requirements for mobile equipment,
  • Basic machine operations,
  • Pre-trip and safety inspections,
  • Refuelling,
  • Cutting grass and proper patterns,
  • Operating on steep hills,
  • Avoiding water hazards on the fields,
  • Cutting around hazards,
  • Hazards to avoid when cutting grass and moving the mower,
  • Backlapping for reel mowers,
  • Washing the machines,
  • Trailering the machine to the job sites,
  • Proper load securement for the machines on the trailers,
  • Driving the machine on and off the trailers,
  • Wearing seat belts,
  • ROPS (rollover protective structures),
  • Greasing the machines.

At the conclusion of the theory segment of the course, participants will be required to complete a written quiz that will be marked with the attendees in the class.  At the conclusion of the practical training, participants will be assessed for their ability and will receive feedback from the instructor.
