Municipal Worker Safety Certificate Program (MWSCP)

This certificate program provides municipal workers with training on key elements of OH&S in a public works environment. The program is offered in a convenient three-day format that can be scheduled consecutively, if desired. Students could receive up to 2.4 EOCP CEU’s upon program completion. The MWSCP Certificate will be provided to students who complete all required courses, and an additional 8 hours of training from any of our other courses.

Note: Training must be completed within three years.

REQUIRED BCMSA COURSES:

  • Worker Responsibilities for Safety (4 hours)
  • Electrical Hazard Awareness for Municipal Workers (2 hours)
  • PPE Basics (2 hours)
  • Musculoskeletal Disorder Prevention (Industry/Field) (4 hours)
  • Prevention of Workplace Violence (4 hours)
    or
    Respectful Conduct in the Workplace (4 hours)

ELECTIVE BCMSA COURSES:

(complete 8 hours of training from any of the following BCMSA courses)

  • Asbestos, Lead, Mould & Silica Awareness (4 hours)
  • Chainsaw Operation and Safe Practices (8 hours)
  • Confined Space Entry (8 hours)
  • Fall Protection (8 hours)
  • Isolation and Lockout (4 hours)
  • Shoring and Excavation Training (8 hours)
  • Shoring and Excavation Training – Applied Field Practices (8 hours)
  • Traffic Control Planning & Layout (4 hours)
  • Transportation of Dangerous Goods (4 hours)
  • Utility Awareness for Municipal Workers (8 hours)
  • WHMIS 1988 and 2015 (4 hours)
